| Home | Holiday Greetings to Family and Friends from 16,550 feet at the Karo La Pass, Tibet.
My travels began with a trip to Sante Fe for the successful opening of my friend's gallery of contemporary art quilts, Thirteen Moons. Later in the year, I fulfilled a childhood dream of visiting the Himalayan countries of Nepal, Tibet and Darjeeling in India. What new and strange experiences there were in the pedestrian-animal-vehicle crowded streets of Kathmandu and in the butter-lamp lit monasteries of Tibet. However, my trip came to an abrupt halt when I broke my leg in Darjeeling, India. What could have been a tragedy so far from home, turned out to be one of the most interesting experiences. The medical care I received was quite adequate and my cast-enclosed leg enabled me to be treated like royalty until I finally returned home ten days later. My leg is now well on its way to being healed and I am able to walk with only a cane. I hope to return to my ballroom dancing group in another few months. Troy continues to bicycle road race. When she isn't racing, she thinks nothing of riding 100 miles in a day on a sightseeing trip. Needless to say, she is in great shape. Steele continues to improve his skills as an electrician and plans to move into a new apartment with his significant other. My home is lead-free again and I am adjusting to an office in a newly built building. Life is good at the end of the 1900's. In our coming new century, we will hopefully find better ways of getting along with each other, of enriching all our lives with hope and prosperity, and of better nurturing our planet. I hope you enjoy the accompanying pictures and are not offended by my attempt at humor. |
